Street Fighter Lovers to the Rescue!

Sat Jul 4, 2009, 6:42 PM
Ok is it just me or can't these folks make a good Street Fighter movie. Now with the new Legend of Chun Li I feel insulted. From a cheesy story which includes Chun Li kicking the crap out of Vega, (one of the more difficult characters to beat) to horrible casting (of which i think the first movie did a better job, and still sucked). I mean Neil McDonough? Neil McDonough?!The guy who every time he plays a villain he reminds me of a schizophrenic maniac. He's playing the ever confident, front-liner, beat you down with one hand, not scared 2 take you out himself, villain, Bison. Gosh this guy's best for the behind the desk sort of bad guy.
Then we have Taboo from Black Eyed Peas as Vega. Need I say more. Apparently i do because they went through with it. One of Vega's defining features is his features. Then we take of the mask and get the "drop dead gorgeous Taboo."It's the real reason he wears the mask *dugh*. Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom weren't available? They could have done much better. Then of course the story didn't do him much justice, Chun Li has him floored with little to no effort. THE GUY IS ONE OF THE TOUGHEST CHARACTERS TO EVEN LAY A HAND ON!!! Sigh I rest my case.
Balrog is actually not a bad choice, played by Michael Clarke Duncan, but thinking the story didn't do him to well either.
To be honest i don't know a lot about Charlie Nash but Chris Klein doesn't look like him, but he could and i wouldn't rule him out from the part.
"Okay breathe". Now we get to the worst casting call in the whole movie and I'm ashamed to say it's the most important main character.Kristen Kreuk as Chun Li. Not only is she not Asian (as if they couldn't find any good Asian actresses instead of casting a girl who happens to be popular and hope the fans would accept it), but she doesn't have the imposing figure, namely the thunder thighs, nor does she have the strong warrior personality of Chun Li. Am I wrong or did they miss the target completely? Grace Park would have been a better pick for me honestly.
Well agree or disagree? Postme on my profile, I'm eager to hear what fellow SF fans have to say.

In the mean time I'm working on a series of costume revamps of those funky costumes that just don't work on film and trying to keep true to the SF characters. And no not just putting them in black leather. Join me if you guys feel to. Stay tuned for more work and thanks for reading.
